Poems Niederngasse

Forbidden Fruit

I'm endeavoring
to act innocent
Trying to act unaffected
Hiding my unadulterated lust
Hiding my desire to fuck

I recognize
that my wandering eye
shouldn't fall upon the new guy
The fresh meat
The young blood
And that my attraction
should remain a fantasy

I make no overtures
I am not the aggressor
as I typically am

I will wait
I will desire
and on his terms
I will respond

Geneva Barnes works at a generic nine to five day job in New York City.   She emerges from the homogeneity encouraged by the circles she travels in, by acknowledging the kindness extended to her and the inspiration given to her, in her words, her poems and her stories.
