Invitation to
Those Who Were in the Beginning I have asked myself why you are always "The Unseen God," why everyone is so excited about your invisibility, your seethroughness, your covert operations. Why are there not guest appearances, interviews on late night shows? When they have made it clear they will die for you, perhaps you should show up at the funerals of the fathers who leave behind their children. Perhaps, Allah and Jehovah, you should respectfully do lunch and together come to some peace for your Holy Land. Divide up blood and courage and suffering and put your wits together to construct a satellite city above the Dome of the Rock. Muslims on the second level, Jews on the first- then each year rotate so that no one gets too attached to having their kingdom in the air and no one clings too savagely to their ground level real-estate. It is blasphemy, I know, to talk to you this way. But someone needs to say quite plainly, "We have fucked up peace, Dear Lord. Work this out for us. Send another Prophet. Let Christ come for the first or second time. (Who's counting?) But please go on Larry King and clear up the confusion. Make your love a little more touchy feely. Be a Seen God, be a Present Father." |

Amestoy: I live in Deliverance, Georgia. I write screenplays,
poetry and lavish letters to people–people like Ted Turner, Henry
Miller (dead), Barbara Ras, ee cummings dead) and Wim Wenders–generally
people who don't write me back. I am best thought of as a
propagandist–a life propagandist–or a mosquito in the kitchen that will
not die. Currently I'm reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra and the best book
of verse written in the past twenty years Bite Every Sorrow (Barbara
Ras). If you have any recs of excellent books of poetry, please pass
them on to me. I am discouraged by how expensive poetry books are and
how entire books seem to be orbiting around the one great poem in the
book. I was thrilled to learn that Amazon lets you return books no
questions asked! Love Amazon! I am a great disliker of snootiness
in animals, people and literary journals. Ergo I love Niederngasse and
its big void of snootiness. I have written a book of poetry
(nowhere near the caliber of Ras). If you'd like a FREE (and
I do mean FREE) copy of her book, just email me your mailing address.) email: C.Amestoy website: .amestoy.com |
