Good Ol' Boys
Watchin' the Teevee, he sees them liberals flashin' pictures of some poor suckers livin' like heathens in some other city
tryin' to get more money out of his pocket for people he don't know Lazy-good-for-nothin'-welfare-types he snorts, as he opens another bag of chips.
He gazes up at the photo of his great-grandfather with his wide grin and cowboy hat, astride a great dark horse, lasso at his side never needing someone else's bootstraps.
Why can't they all be like that?
passing time
brushing off the chilly air my hands move up and down my arms then come to rest in my lap where both thumbs spin
my eyes dart back and forth from the screaming couple on the corner to the guy sitting next to me blowing his nose
keeps me rather busy
