Plenty
of time
Today, I’ve got plenty of time.
I can water the flowers,
take care of the plants,
and even read a magazine.
Or maybe, I’ll call you
and tease you on the phone.
I know you’ll tell me
a new joke, about some drunk
in a cold bar or some woman
with her poor man.
The truth is I’ll be waiting for you
to ask me what I’m wearing.
When I tell you it’s the blue dress,
the shiny tights and the black shoes,
you’ll be silent for a moment,
and so shall I.
