Young Lovers Fingernail clippings fall as rain from a blasted sky – crawling across old newspapers like roaches. He moves close to her, tells her to take off her blouse, says that her skin is perfect. The backseat is a bench with stains on the fabric and streaks running down the foggy windows. I am 33 years old. I live out on Long Island with my partner,
Erin, and my evil kitten, Sombrero. I’m a former lawyer and
chef. I studied fiction at Auburn University with Judy Troy, but
now write poetry because I have to. I cook and watch movies for
fun. My
collection of poetry, Apart, was recently published by the March Street
Press. Last year, my work was in Nerve Cowboy, Limestone,
Ibbetson Street, and Porcupine Literary Arts, among others, and has
been nominated for a Pushcart prize. email: Vanessa Kittle |
