Rhonda
Maltbie
Jamaican Rum
I am
an empty ham --
mock
between two palm
trees.
I sleep as trade winds
drive
the surf and break
in
the distance.
I
breathe salt
air
as if it were a Mai
Tai,
when evening comes,
I am
the beach
where
a jelly fish floats
in a
tidal pool, awaits the tide.
I am
the sun dropping from a cobalt sky
into
the water: I am a slow,
slow
boat sailing by.
