Origami
You said I always took more than you received.
You begin with a piece of white chart paper
8 inches by 10, that you manipulate
into an exquisite scrunched shape;
your six-pointed stars, fish,
birds on the wing -- beautiful
-- remind me of someone hunched
by a loveless relationship,
I said I lack the patience for origami.
You cut the paper with scissors,
describe the sensation of creation
as a liberating, Zen-like experience,
-- just you and the crisp white paper.
