Poems Niederngasse
Valerie Fox
J. Dreams in Sports

what with the radio
while I dream in crowds
My sister dreams in black and white
and objects are their normal size,
toasters, cars, ladders.

My eyes are drawn to wrist watches
anywhere I go even a place
where time is relatively unimportant
like a moving train.

J. is like a city--
How many times do I have to tell you?
A medium sized one
with a healthy sense of self worth.

It's a plaid world from down here
all about fitting in and surviving
a secret subway stop.

Can't taste much but can still feel
the effects of eight and a half
weeks of nothing
less than circus music

nothing more than marching band.
Smell comes and goes.
Inevitably Mr. Dictionary shows up
and makes my life whole again,
full of love.
