Poems Niederngasse

Gary Blankenship
Sunstroke, Sorrow

(For the victims of Rwanda, Sudan,  et al)

Where rain rarely falls,
survivors raise toddlers;
Where the sky burns dirt,
tearful wives stir brown rice.

When the children laugh,
memories of bad days;
when their parents pray,
flash of machetes seen.
