On
the Beach, Morning Moon
a blue neoprene suit
rides a surfboard into swells
swollen by a distant wind
a teal hat and red sweater
swing a yellow coat between them
a brindle dog chases
a rainbow umbrella down the beach
orange swim trunks jump waves
carefully watched by a silver beard
and salt and pepper bangs
a pink dress arranges sand dollars
into a home for her blond dolly
behind a driftwood suite
green shorts and a flowered skirt
discarded for a purple blanket
the morning moon glances
off rock and shell on her way
to rest on the far side of the ocean
we sit and absorb the new sun
chocolate donuts shared with herring gulls
before hiking boots rise
to seek the trail into town
a peppermint kite finds its way into the sky
